Can the slope formula really help me to plan a wedding?
My PBL project is planning a wedding with a maximum budget of $10,000, and the maximum time I have to plan this is one year. I must plan it down to the very last detail, not a cup, invitation, or plate short. I have to use real life prices for the items I plan on using. I have to call people who own businesses that will help me get everything I need for this wedding to be held. I plan on calculating everything I plan on "buying", and then I will write about my discoveries.

Catering budget:
I called different places to get prices for food. I really wanted to have Wings N More food for my reception. I also called around to find a good place to have the reception and ceremony. I found a pretty dress on David's Bridal.com that I really liked. My mom and I went to Bea's Bridal, here in Bryan/College Station, to look at dresses. I found the dress for a very good price. I also talked to my hairdresser and found out about prices for nails and having my hair done.
I thought about having my "wedding" at our local church, but didn't want to have my reception there. I found Royalty Pecan Farms, which is also local to Bryan/College Station, where I can have both the reception and the wedding in one place. My mom and her friend have made flower arrangements before and we priced flowers and supplies to make floral arrangements. Also, I found on David's Bridal.com a florist company that I can order fresh flowers for the same price.
I called the bakery at Kroger's and got a quote for a 3 tiered wedding cake. They wouldn't give me a specific price, but said that I could get a cake for between $400-$500 as described.
I then added all of my expenses up (minus the meal) and found how much total I could spend the meal. Using the slope formula, I found how much I could spend on each person's meal at my wedding. Based on that information, I chose my menu for the reception.
